Indie Rewind radio was broadcast online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from October 2015 to December 2019.
It was an amazing four years in internet radio with listeners tuning in from all over the world and easily exceeding the listening hours threshold set by our streaming service Radionomy to remain on the air. This was despite the gradual reduction of channels to listen through, e.g. TuneIn, and the geoblocking that was necessary for Radionomy as a free service to afford covering the music licensing costs for us.
Unfortunately, it became too much for Radionomy in the end who were priced out of the ever increasing licensing fees and were forced to shut down their business on December 31st, 2019. As a hobbyist radio it is too expensive to cover the fees ourselves using an alternative service.
We would like to say a big thank you to those who listened and support internet radio. We hope we helped to promote new bands too through the Indie Fast Forward feature, Thanks to our idols for providing voice overs - these included Miles Hunt (The Wonder Stuff), Jonn Penney (Ned's Atomic Dustbin), Jim Bob (Carter USM), James Atkin (EMF), Gerry Bryant (Mega City Four), Peter Hooton (The Farm), Rowetta (Happy Mondays), Tracy Tracy (The Primitives), and Andrea Lewis (The Darling Buds).
We have compiled a Spotify playlist with as many of the songs as possible that we had on the radio (over 2000). Play this on shuffle to get as near to the radio experience as possible!
